Services

Dr. Ashley Major provides evidence-based psychological services for children, youth, and parents. Based in Burlington, Ontario, she is proud to be serving families across Ontario with accessible and secure virtual support. She also offers in-person services to families in Burlington and the surrounding area.

Social-Emotional Assessment

Evaluates a child's social, emotional, and behavioural functioning. The goal is to help identify some of the underlying factors that are contributing to a child's challenges, or to determine if they meet specific criteria for a mental health condition, such as depression, anxiety, or OCD. Information is gathered from the parent(s), child, and school (when relevant).

Individual Therapy

This is one-on-one therapy with a child or adolescent. Goals are identified and worked toward using evidence-based strategies to help clients meet their goals. Depending on the child's age, parent involvement may be encouraged, as it can greatly improve therapy outcomes.

Parenting Support

Parent coaching sessions involve working with parents, rather than the child, to help parents support their child's development and mental health. The focus of these sessions is to provide parents with strategies and tools they can use to address specific challenges that their child may be experiencing.

Consultation

Consultation includes a range of services, from consulting with your child's medical or school team, to offering classroom or school-wide supports, and consulting with agencies, such as foster care. It involves assessing challenges, offering insights, and providing solutions that aim to make improvements for an individual child, group, or family system.

Clinical Supervision

Dr. Major offers clinical supervision to psychologists in Supervised Practice, as well as clinicians in other disciplines, including social workers and psychotherapists. Supervision is a collaborative process that is aimed at enhancing the professional competence and science-informed practice of early career psychologists and therapists.
