Meet Dr. Major
Hi! I'm Ashley. I'm a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario.
I completed my Doctorate degree in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto. I have trained in various settings, including hospitals, community mental health clinics, and private practices throughout the Toronto area. I currently operate my own private practice, providing virtual psychological services to families across Ontario, and in-person services in Burlington and the surrounding area.
Over the past 10 years, I have worked with children from preschool to late adolescence who present with a range of social, emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs. I have also worked extensively with parents, providing guidance around parenting challenges and helping families build the tools and confidence needed to support their child's development and emotional wellbeing.

My Approach
My clinical training emphasized evidence-based practice, and this is something that I value and embrace in my work. I use scientifically-backed approaches to therapy with children, youth, and parents, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Emotion Focused Family Therapy. I also integrate mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and solution-focused approaches into my work as I support children and families through my Burlington-based practice.
My approach is grounded in science, but also tailored to the unique needs of each child, adolescent, and parent I meet with. I use creativity and play to engage clients and work hard to ensure that they are comfortable and at ease. I create a warm and non-judgmental environment that allows my clients to express their concerns openly. This helps us get at the root of their challenges so we can work toward solutions.
My approach is collaborative, and I aim to build on the inherent strengths and abilities that each child already has. I believe that the value of therapy doesn't just come from the insights developed in session, but also from how those insights improve everyday life. My goal is to ensure that the children and parents with whom I work leave therapy with a set of tools for their "toolbox" to help increase their confidence with emotion, move forward in their lives, and successfully navigate any bumps along the way.
